High Commissioner Recognises Distinguished Nationals

London, October 3rd 2012- His Excellency Garvin Nicholas hosted a special ceremony at his office in the High Commission, London on Tuesday 2nd October  to recognise the work of four distinguished nationals.   The awardees were nominated by their peers for their excellence in several categories.

H.E. Garvin Nicholas gives Greta Mendez her award for Achievements in Arts

Receiving awards were Sterling Betancourt and Greta Mendez for Achievement in Arts. The organisation CSI Steelband was also recognised in the aforementioned category, with the Founder Brent Holder accepting on their behalf. Cancer Information Specialist Suresh Rambaran was recognised for Outstanding Service to the Community.

High Commissioner Nicholas thanked the awardees for their work.

“You have flown the flag for Trinidad and Tobago both here (in the United Kingdom) and beyond and for that we must thank you.”

These persons were recognised in yesterday’s  ceremony as they were unable to attend the 50th Anniversary of Independence Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at the Royal Garden Hotel on September 8th, 2012.
