Staff Writer – Latoya Wakefield

Caribbean news. October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  During this month, many Jamaicans can be seen wearing that pink ribbon on their attire. There are several activities done within this month to increase awareness of breast cancer (the most common cancer among women in Jamaica) from Jamaica Cancer’s Society Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run with us to Wear Pink Day in the office. This year, telecommunications giant, DIGICEL, chose to do a never seen before pink moment in Jamaica.

About 6:00 pm last Friday just as it turned dark, Digicel staff members and representatives from the Jamaica Cancer Society and Jamaica Reach to Recovery joined in the countdown to ‘Light it up Pink’ where they lit their entire headquarters building pink on Ocean Boulevard at the Waterfront, Downtown to publicly show their support for the fight against breast cancer (see images below).
