Celebrating Toothaches

February 9 is National Toothache Day and this made me think of my perceptions of celebrations. I thought these events were created to remember the good that comes out of something that was sometimes bad. Why would anyone want to celebrate a toothache? I guess I’m being cynical in this week’s pieces on CaribDirect.com (see Long-Term Relationship Mistakes)

Toothaches don’t only hurt but they make us miserable, we can’t eat certain foods, we can’t sleep and it makes us feel unattractive whether our faces appear swollen or not. There’s nothing there to make anyone want to celebrate!

Why isn’t the day called Toothache Prevention Day? That way the day can be celebrated to remind us of our daily tooth cleaning routine and dental advances that can make our smiles shine!
