MVO announced the winners of its illustrated poetry competition at the Alliouagana Festival of The Word on Saturday November 13.
There were four winners in each category, (Grades K-3 and 4-6 in the primary schools, with forms 1-3 and 4 and 5 in the secondary school) and the top five graded poems in each received a prize. There was an overwhelming response of 158 marked entries.
MVO Director Paul Cole presented prizes to winners after commenting on the high quality of the entries as well as the large number of entries to the competition. An open mic session followed where many of the winners took the opportunity to read out their poems.
The winners in category 1-4 were as follows:
1- Josiah Persaud- St. Augustine Primary School
2- Maldrick Weekes- Look Out Primary School
3- Demornea J. Armstrong- Montserrat Secondary School
4- Tiffannie E.A. Skerritt- Montserrat Secondary School
