In the early days of Haiti when European navigator Christopher Columbus ‘claimed’ to have discovered the island that was inhabited by the Arawaks, Haiti was a beautiful land. Following several bouts of colonisations by the French and Spanish the country has been plagued by violence and civil unrest largely inspired by the United States of America.
