Breakthrough Dancehall artist Popcaan has released the highly anticipated YiY Change mixtape – a follow up to the Hot skull, Fry Yiy, Boil Brains mixtape released in 2010. The mixtape which is available for free download contains 39 tracks. With a string of hits to his name including Ravin’, Naughty Gal, Party Shot and Nuh Box Pon Jaw Popcaan is looking to assert himself as a heavyweight with this latest offering.
The Yiy Change mixtape features the artist deejaying over popular hip-hop beats and also contains exclusive dubs of his hits for DJ Chromatic. The mixtape released Sunday 12 Feb 2012 has had over 20,000 downloads according to the artistes statements on Twitter. The mixtape’s popularity was no doubt helped by the smartphone phenomenon as the artist allowed fans to download the mixtape directly to their Blackberry devices.
Feedback for Yiy Change has been overwhelmingly positive with many fans posting messages of approval to the artist on social networks. One user tweeted: “Grammys on mute. Kmt. Deh ya ah listen to pepper skull @popcaanmusic “Fry Yiy Mixtape.”
