Magnum: Wrong Top 3

The Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall talent show is down to its top three contestants on both the male and female side.  Rounding up the top three male contestants are Big Pop, Deep Jahi and Renny.  On the female side, there are Too Qute, Taliban and Kayla Di Diva.  That means on last week’s show, Memzay and Firm were sent home on the male and female side respectively.

In my opinion, the wrong two contestants were sent home.  Memzay is one of the better talents in the competition overall and I would have loved to see him make it to the clash round to see how he handles himself there; if his lyrics would still be as good as they are now.

I think Big Pop should have been sent home on the men’s side.  While I love the gimmicks and comedy, this part of the competition calls for real lyrics, which Big Pop had yet to prove up until last week Saturday night.  I must admit however, that Big Pop did in fact deliver on the safe sex challenge on Saturday night.

Firm though, have not been too consistent with her performances still is a good contender in my book and should have at least made it to top three if no further.  Too Qute on the other hand, in my opinion have not been pulling her weight in the competition.

Watching, the competition, week after week I find that most weeks she is judged by her appearance and not her performance.  While appearance is necessary, this competition is about musical talent.  The last two weeks however, I have noticed that the judges have managed to look past her outfit to find the performance and actually judged her performance.

However, the contestant who actually makes it to the next round is the contest with the most fiscal power or the contestant who campaign the hardest and raises the most money.
