Jamaica has been listed at number three on TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice awards’ ranking of the best islands in the world .
Jamaica was also ranked number one in the Caribbean by the popular travel planning and booking website.
The world’s best islands were ranked based on the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions. The data was gathered over a 12-month period from destinations worldwide.
“Is there anything better than stretching out like a cat in a warm patch of Jamaican sun? Only if you sprinkle your island vacation with a dash of adventure. Known fondly as “the land of wood and water,” Jamaica’s forests feature prime hiking and bird watching. History buffs can the heritage sites of Trelawny, while reggae and dancehall fans will love the authentic music clubs of Kingston. Montego Bay is perfect for snorkeling and shopping, while the spas of Ocho Rios can make any stresses melt away,” states the website.
According to The Observer, following the publication of the rankings, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, Paul Pennicook stated:
“I have no doubt that this is based on the joy that travellers feel during their trips to Jamaica. Our accommodations, culture, attractions, culinary offerings and especially our warm-hearted people, make each vacation unforgettable. Congratulations to everyone who was able to make it happen and thank you to our visitors, who we are ready to welcome back again and again,” he added.“Jamaica is both thrilled and honored to be named the number three island in the world, not to mention the number one island in the Caribbean.”
