“We’re off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz” The infamous song from the popular 1939 film called ‘The Wizard of Oz’¹ The main characters are Dorothy, tin man, lion and the straw man. They all met along the yellow brick road and became firm friends, because they were all seeking something that was missing from their lives from the wizard. Dorothy was lost and needed to know the way home. The tin man wanted a heart, the lion sought courage and the scarecrow a brain.
What’s missing in your life, what goals do you want to achieve in the next 5 years, and are you following your own yellow brick road to get there? Have you noticed that when you decide to achieve something major, your adrenalin shoots up leading you to tell your nearest and dearest your exciting plans, only to see out of say 10 people only 2 will fuel you to the end? Don’t let that deter or discourage you from continuing on your path to your chosen better life. Dorothy had three friends to take her across the finishing line to see the wizard.

Should you wish to be emotionally healthy and want to change your life in a year, Ed Latimore author of ‘Emotional Mastery’ gives ten steps to changing your life for the better, which includes facing your fears, you can read his article here 1 year to change your life in 10 simple steps | Ed Latimore. Staying on my yellow brick road is sometimes very difficult, but I thank God for giving me the faith to stay on it. Currently I’m facing a difficult challenge where every part of my being is telling me to give up, but the Holy Spirit is saying don’t. Is it easy ‘No’ but will it be worth it? ‘Yes’.
Why will it be valuable to stay on your yellow brick road? Well for a start you will reach your expected end, and like Dorothy meet interesting people who will encourage and horrendous ones who want to annihilate you. Also take heart in knowing that because you stayed on that road like Dorothy you will become wiser and stronger. I do warn you though the key ingredients to staying on the yellow brick road is perseverance and patience. At times Dorothy got frustrated with not being home on her timescale, but when we put our trust in God, not only will everything happen at the right time but it will all be beautiful, and like Dorothy and her friends who received their hearts desire, we too will receive ours!
Until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
