DEVON THOMAS PROFILE
Devon Thomas – Executive Director of Lambeth Enterprise Devon has over 30 years experience of working with the black Caribbean community in Lambeth, around London and in the wider African Diaspora, to promote social inclusion, expand the economic infrastructure and business development.
He has worked in community development and as one of the first economic
development officers for a local authority and run his own self sustaining
organisation for over 20 years.
He is currently undertaking a programme on behalf of Lambeth Council’s
Regeneration Department in improving access to procurement opportunities for local businesses and organising an engagement programme for local
organisations for the Big Lottery into their Big Local Programme which has
just allocated a £1m fund to North Brixton.
He is chair of the Brixton Business Forum, Brixton Neighbourhood Forum and the Lambeth Business Network.
He is also heavily involved in the history and heritage sector and is
co-ordinator of the Pepys Heritage Centre in Deptford, chair of the Black
Heritage Group and the Raleigh Hall Action Group, a support group for the
Black Cultural Archives.

Lambeth Enterprise (formerly the London Co-operative Development Agency) was established in 1978, to build independent economic and social structures for the black Caribbean community in Lambeth. It is now an organisation that
operates locally, nationally and internationally.
One of its main roles is to offer programmes to local authorities and
governments, so that they may understand how to better orient their services
and programnmes to the needs of their communities.
Work in the Lambeth community has included developing new approaches to business start up and development to help grow a healthy business sector in the black Caribbean community.
