In Business news. The third installment of the CaribDirect Seminar Series ‘The Caribbean and You’ was held in conjunction with Sankofa Televisual before a packed room at the Dominica High Commission last Thursday 5th December 2013.

Moderated by the esteemed comedian, actor, writer, director, presenter and producer, Ms Angie Le Mar the event which was officially launched by Her Excellency Ms Francine Baron, High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Dominica who applauded the initiative by CaribDirect Multi-Media and Sankofa Televisual to host such a seminar on a most relevant and timely topic.

The seminar, held in memory of the late comedian / actor Felix Dexter who was originally due to chair this seminar, observed a minute’s silence in his honour.

Ron Belgrave, Sankofa Televisual making a point

The speakers comprised a most dynamic team of media professionals including Ron Belgrave –  Director of Sankofa Televisual; Samuell Benta –  writer/producer/director of “All About The McKenzies”; Akin Salami  –  Chief Executive, OHTV and Marcus Ryder – Editor, Current Affairs BBC Scotland.

Actor Aml Ameen, who is currently starring in a historical film “The Butler”, also starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, which opened in UK cinemas last week, made a surprised appearance and spoke passionately on his struggles as an actor and how he believes more progress can be achieved by black producers, directors and actors in the industry.
