Incarcerated dancehall artist, Vybz Kartel has officially disbanded the Portmore Empire. During the early part of his incarceration, the Portmore Empire had been somewhat silent, with the exception of Popcaan.
However, in the latter part on Kartel’s incarceration, the Portmore Empire has found its way back in the limelight. Despite this, however, the leader of the group has decided to shut down his organization of artists due to his legal woes. According to Vybz Kartel in the below statement, it is unfair to the artists based on the limited resources of his recording label. He also states that he is confident the crop of artists can ‘take on their careers by themselves.’

It with great regret that I, Adidja Palmer have decided to disband the Portmore Empire. These artistes have been under the Adidjahiem leadership for years, where they have honed their craft and made their mark, and as such, are well on their way to becoming major forces in Dancehall. They have reached a level where they are more capable to take on their careers by themselves, and it would be unfair to them, based on the limited resources of Adidjahiem Records, and current legal woes of the Adidjahiem C.E.O. and team members.
I wish them the best and I am confident that they will live up to my expectations. In the future, Adidjahiem will continue to bring out new acts and groom them for stardom.

Vanessa Bling and Tommy Lee are not wasting time in finding themselves a new label to sign on to with the shutting down of the Portmore Empire. Both artists have declared, according to reports that they will now be working with a new label called PG13. There has not yet been any word from the self proclaimed Gaza prefect, Popcaan about the recent shut down of the Empire.
