Do they tell Anansi stories still? I used to love listening to Children’s Corner and to Louise Bennet telling Nansi Stories. We would wait for the end, when she would say ‘Jack Mandorah me no choose none’.
Then when night began to fall the stories would begin. This crafty spider, Nansi was always ready to outsmart someone. Remember Anansi and the Tar Baby , where Anansi himself was tricked when he tried to fight a tar baby after trying to steal food. Then there was Anansi and the Ripe Plantains and Anansi and…..
