DANCEHALL BORING WITHOUT KARTEL?

Ok so with Michael ‘Cakesoap’ Jackson behind bars I have been hearing people complaining that the dancehall scene has become boring, as no new songs are being put out.  I was on a bus the other day when I heard the bus driver complaining bitterly, saying that the music has become boring and he is tired of hearing the same old song every day.  He said that he is tired of hearing, Delilah and all the other songs which were released pre Kartel’s incarceration.  While I am not tired of hearing all those songs I must agree with him somewhat that the music has become somewhat lax and this is not what we have become accustomed to recently.  We have become accustomed to a very vibrant music scene with songs being released every day and people throwing words and the works.  To be honest I have not heard a lot of new songs since Kartel has been put in detention.  Whether we like him or hate him we have to admit that he did bring something to dancehall that we all appreciate.  He kept the other artists on their toes and created heavy competition within the music industry in Jamaica and that pressed other artists to step up their A game and compete, even though majority of them will never admit.

Look keenly into this; before he (Kartel) was incarcerated we heard countless numbers of songs bashing him, some from artists that we never even heard about before.  Now since he has been in jail, you could hear a pin drop, even the clashes that were brewing seems to have cooled down.  We see now where Merciless and Kiprich are trying but not succeeding to convince Jamaica that they have a feud going.  We all know that is just for show and we are not buying it.

An artiste at work...!

Back to Kartel he managed to keep the entertainment scene alive with his various controversies, from the changing of his skin pigmentation, to X-rated pictures and the list goes on.  He is still causing controversy without the music, but this controversy I am sure  is not “precise and concise” to put it in his words, as I am pretty sure he did not orchestrate this one and this is publicity he could certainly do without.

BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK, HAS THE MUSIC SCENE BECOME STAGNANT WITHOUT THE WORLD BOSS?
