New York’s John F. Kennedy airport treated the media to view a model suite of the TWA Hotel. The 512-room hotel is poised to change the way traveling with hotel nights feels in 2019.
Its developers MCR and MORSE Development ensured guests won’t have sleepless nights from the sound of planes taking off, with soundproof windows. The room’s curtain wall is made of seven-panes of glass (4.5 inches,) making it the second thickest in the world, after the new U.S. Embassy in London.
Designed by New York-based firm Stonehill Taylor, the sixties-inspired guest rooms are equipped with martini bars, midcentury furniture, and vintage rotary phones sourced from Ebay. A fleet of vintage cars: 1956 BMW Isetta 300 to a 1963 Lincoln Continental will transport guests to their terminals.
Categorised as a 4-star plus property, TWA Hotel will have eight restaurants, six bars, conference space to accommodate 1,400 people, an in-house museum and a 10,00 square-foot observation deck. Rooms start at $250 a night.
