Former NFL star Darren Sharper is now one of the most despised men in the nation after being convicted of numerous rape charges all around the country.   Sharper committed the horrible task of drugging multiple women to prepare them to be sexually assaulted while they remained unconscious.

Sharper’s sentence not only includes at least 9 years in prison, but he is also going to be under the grip of the legal system for the remainder of his life.  According to the deal with the courts, Sharper is going to be tracked by GPS for the first three to five years of freedom.

After that, Sharper is also going to undergo treatment as a sex offender and can’t drink alcohol for the rest of his life.  Additionally, Sharper can’t visit liquor stores, sex shops or even chat on the Internet to get a date.

If Sharper wants to spend the night away from home, he has to get permission from the state.  He also has to get permission if he ever travels more than 50 miles from his house.   He is on lifetime probation with the state of Arizona and will be subject to regular lie detector tests.

As another condition of his punishment, Sharper will be subject to a “penile plethysmograph,” which is a sensor that will be connected to his private parts while he is shown sexual images.  This is to gauge his level of arousal.

If Sharper fails to meet the conditions of the court, he is going back to prison for at least another 14 years.

Sharper was convicted of drugging and raping women in Louisiana, Arizona, California and Nevada, with there being at least nine victims in the process.   Sharper’s alleged accomplice in some of these crimes was former St. Bernard Parish Deputy Brandon Licciardi.

For the rest of his life, Sharper’s neighbors, school groups and all employers will be alerted to his presence, meaning that he probably won’t be able to find many jobs.  They are going to put his name, address and description on fliers that will be circulated to neighbors.

What do you think about this punishment?
