Joseph  speaking generally on the company’s disconnection policies,  said LUCELEC does not take disconnection decisions lightly, as the company is sensitive to the various issues at stake.

“But despite our best efforts to work with our customers to help them manage their accounts, LUCELEC has to make some tough decisions at times if we are to continue to provide the quality of service that our customers rely on,” he said.

LUCELEC pulled the plug on Cotton Bay Village Resort on Tuesday, forcing guests who were being accommodated at the hotel to stay elsewhere.

Hotel industry sources told the Times the guests were accommodated mainly at Coco Palm and Bay Gardens Resorts.

It was not immediately clear how many guests were displaced, although some industry sources told the Times that Cotton Bay had low occupancy at the time.

According to the sources, the 74 room Cotton Bay Village owes LUCELEC a “significant” sum of money dating back several months.

Several  telephone calls to the resort went unanswered. Article courtesy stluciatimes.com
