Ever fancied getting involved and helping the local community during your holiday? Well, here’s your chance if you can spare a few hours whilst in Saint Lucia.
Come join the Yellow Socks Volunteer Posse in Saint Lucia from June 12th-19th and work up a wee sweat for a worthy cause.
The non-profit charity founded by the late soccer trailblazer Keith Alexander (www.sacredsportsinc.com) is looking for volunteers to help empower young unemployed men and women during their youth in action week held in St Lucia between June 12th-19th.
It’ll be compulsory to have fun and wear Keith’s trademark yellow socks that’s being knitted by his dear old mum in Saint Lucia as we speak!.
The NSCAA/BSCC out of the US and the PFA & LMA from the UK will be conducting certification courses for the Islands youth.
In addition, there will be a scholarship showcase for young sportsmen and women from across the Caribbean, as well as an International “Best of the Best’ soccer tournament for U16 & U17 male & female teams.
Volunteers will act as liaison for teams, mentor participants and help with the general organization of activities to assist youth unemployment.
You’ll have to pay your own way, but there’ll be lots of time to unwind and party at the various ‘Yellow Sock’ events in communities across the Island including : Bring Yer Toothbrush at Rodney Bay, Fish Fest in Anse la Raye, Head-Funk at Samaans Park, Rock the Boat at the Marina, The 4 B’s-(Beach, Breadfruit Balls & Barbeque) in Soufriere, culminating in the Green Mango Challenge at Corinth.
