Ras Keith, the incomparable singer/songwriter/player of instruments, is a musical force of “LOVE” that has been sharing his traditional style in the UK for over forty years. Born in Jamaica (St. Elizabeth), he moved to England at the young impressionable age of 12, to join his parents in the late 1960s.

Ras Keith’s musical journey began while attending “Thomas Carlton” Secondary School. His interest moved beyond listening to music to wanting to learn to play instruments, shortly after taking 6 weeks to make his first “acoustic Guitar” at 14. Leaving school at the age of 16 Ras Keith became an apprentice car mechanic. However short lived Ras Keith formed a band with some of his schoolmates playing in local pubs and open air festivals. Ras Keith brought his first electric guitar at 18.

Ras Keith aka “Lionheart” had the privilege of playing back-up guitarist, during a mini tour in England for the legendary “Nicky Thomas” also from Jamaica, who enjoyed considerable chart success in the 1970s. For the next 25 years Ras Keith continued to play in local pubs with various bands to include performing at “Victoria’s Pub” in Peckham, now named the “Wishing Well”. There were many offers to join other groups but it was Ras Keith’s traditional artistry that he wanted to remain relevant in his music.
Although Ras Keith isn’t a member of any band he linked with fellow musical colleagues, Ras Nesta and Anna Joseph to form a musical 3 piece unit called “WORD SOUND” to perform live gigs. He spends most of his time writing and recording in his “Home Studio” in England. While playing and recording all instruments live. Ras Keith is quoted as stating “That One Must Find A balance Between Technology/Tradition When Creating Music”. Most mornings he rises and creates music between the hours of 2am-6am, for he states that he is a “One Man SoulJah Throdding Through Creation”.

Ras Keith’s mantra being to “STAY IN LOVE WITH LOVE” is the way he lives his life. Music is in his head and heart. His love for music has created hundreds of unreleased rhythms and songs like “Say Yeah, Every Song Is A Prayer, In The Hills, Oh Jah Rastafari , Meditation Dub featuring “Ina Viola” on violin and Jah Love Is The Best, Know Yuhself, ” Every Song is a Prayer, Throdding , Hail H.I.M featuring “Bongo Asher” Meditation Chant featuring Gul Warbass out of France to name a few.
Ras Keith, a man who simply wants to be a soundtrack of life through music, spread LOVE, live in peace as he quotes “INI AH RASTA WITH NO APOLOGIES”. So what can we expect from Ras Keith in the future? Everything!! for his love of making music goes beyond the unexpected.
