Young Jamaican-Canadian entrepreneur making waves in Canada

We would like to share a great story about a young man making big waves in Canada’s entertainment news scene and the world’s urban community.

Vonny The Ken Doll is a young entrepreneur and Television/Media personality, who is in the vanguard of youth culture, and is currently in production on a reality series following his work in the industry.

Vonny operates an entertainment media brand in Toronto Canada. The show has been picked up by production heavyweights Hiltz Squared Media (creators of Trevor Borris’s ‘I Now Pronounce You,’ And ‘Cover Guy.’)

After previously appearing in the Canadian Jersey Shore spinoff reality series, ‘LakeShore,’ Vonny’s fan base started to grow. When Vonny spoke out against the show’s well-reported manipulation of youth and race, he sparked a feud with the show’s producers, accusing them of falsely representing his ethnicity on the show. This landed him in several mainstream media outlets across the country (Toronto Star, National Post, Calgary Herald etc.) Vonny immediately became a touchstone for thousands of young people and knew he had caught lightning in a bottle.

He soon after launched website and entertainment blog, VonnyTheKenDoll.Com. His celebrity persona, Vonny The Ken Doll (Perez Hilton, Canada-style) was an instant viral hit, garnering over 75,000 visitors in the first few months while accumulating over 100,000 fans and followers via Facebook and Twitter respectively.

After interviewing a girlfriend of Jersey Shore star Mike The Situation, Vonny
negotiated a sales pitch with the National Inquirer and used his momentum to further ignite the entrepreneurial spirit running through his veins. His grandfather,
Francis L. Price, went from inner-city Kingston to the top of the boardroom where he serves as president and CEO of Q3 Industries Inc, Interact Performance Systems, and Hybrid Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies. He understands the mantra about supply and demand, and with his show, website and media persona, knows that he is filling a void.

Vonny also has a talk show platform where he interviews artists of public interest. He feels creating a platform for the emerging and urban communities is important due to their lack of representation.  His powerful connections and friends have garnered him interviews with legendary musicians such as Dionne Warwick, Earth Wind & Fire, as well as Playboy’s Miss November, and Canada’s Reema Major.

This year’s 2012 TIMA’s (Toronto Independent Music Awards) will take place on October 6th at Toronto’s prestigious Phoenix Theatre. The event was founded by popular entertainment attorney Daniela Oliva and is presently in its eighth season. Vonny will be acting as the official live VIP correspondent and will present the award for Best Pop Single of the year. Other notable Canadian celebrities in attendance will include R&B Singer July Black, and Juno winning Biff Naked.

Vonny has since directed his energy to advocacy originally becoming an ambassador for YAN (Youth Action network). YAN was founded in 1989 and recognized by the Govenor General for its creation of youth week which has since been adapted by the United Nations taking place in countries across the world. Vonny has since been elected Co-Chair of the organization and hopes to help affect change by making decisions that will positively impact youth, especially in the urban communities across Canada. The organization’s largest event entitled “Rukus,” will take place this year and is set to address over 800 youth as well as several more via live streaming across the nation.

Vonny is helping to transition media in Canada and is a barometer on youth trends. That’s why you want to know what this guy is doing. He represents the future of entertainment media in Canada for the young.
