Justice Alexis–Windsor formerly served as a judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Trinidad and. Tobago, where she adjudicated on complex pre-trial and trial matters. Justice Alexis-Windsor has served as a Prosecutor and an Appeals Counsel at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) for a period of ten (10) years. Judge Alexis-Windsor was also part of several high-level prosecutions at both trial and appellate level at the ICTR and has therefore gained experience in the prosecution of crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide and rape.
