In Carnival news, on Saturday 10th August 2013, The UK Centre for the Carnival Arts (UKCCA) hosted its first ever Miss Universal Carnival UK.
The show which aims to “celebrate the culture, couture and theatrics of carnival arts and performance” had seventeen contestants judged in three main categories – the Carnival Costume, the carnival inspired evening gown and Scavenge Couture.
Each category and contestant was judged on the artistic contribution by the contestant as model, the designer, constructionist of hair and make-up artists.
After an entertaining showcase filled with soca vibes, vibrant costumes and a lively and interactive audience. Miss Tobago Sureya John triumphed as the winner!
Second runners up were Miss Nigeria and Miss Venezuela! Winners prize included a trip to the Caribbean, various beauty products, trophies and crowns.
