Jo-Anne read from her very popular children’s book “Paddy the Goat that Saved Anguilla” and also talked about her other books in the Caribbean Tales series “Trixie the Monkey that Ate Nevis” about a naughty monkey and “The Perfect Shell” – coming soon – about Hattie the Hermit Crab who lives in St Martin. The books – based on observation – resonate with humor and carry simple, affirmative messages. Each book celebrates the beauty of the island it is set on and contains local information (maps, indigenous animals, flora and fauna). A delighted Jo-Anne said “I love doing these events, the children are so full of excitement and ideas that the time just flies by. Every one leaves with a big smile on their face, what could be better.””
Jo-Anne not only read passages from “Paddy” a richly illustrated tale that stars the gorgeous piebald goats that are found everywhere in Anguilla but also spent time talking about the other books in her series. She made the story interactive by showing them where in Anguilla the exciting events of the story unfold. All the children left with signed copies of the books and cute ‘buttons’ featuring the Caribbean Tales creatures.
Sarah Kenworth, the Kids Club Manager said, “We were thrilled to have Jo-Anne with us this morning. These books are a wonderful memento of Anguilla for our guests to enjoy. We love reading them to the children as they give so much fun information about our island. We can’t wait for the next book in her series and look forward to having her back for even more fun – during the Festive season.” Paddy the Goat the Saved Anguilla – Front cover Below.
