Community news. The Sun’s out, folks seem happy there’s music a plentiful and loads of 50th’s seem to be the order of 2014(well for some of us that is).
“Black” film is on the rise. Our filmed and treasured stories are becoming as diverse on the big screen as we know them to be in reality. So as always with the BCC programme of film, we continue to reflect the true spectrum of narriatives within the FILM FRIDAY experience.
Come down this Friday to the Phoenix Center and become one of the many audience members that walk through the FILM FRIDAY doors, engaging with other club members before immersing themselves in the wonder of great stories.
This week in particular we’ll dive into the world created on screen by a then 20 something, first time directing, caribbean giant of a story teller Euzhan Palcy.
Don’t forget this month we’re also proudly collaborating with two of the UK’s most respected community members Toyin Agbetu, a long standing community activist and Tony Warner another long standing activist. We join arms in screening with both gentleman who routinely champion the cause for bringing knowledge and awareness of African stories of existence, contributions, struggles, triumphs, injustices and inequalities to the fore. See below our list of remaining films for the month of May.
Once again a big THANK YOU to the regular FILM FRIDAY crew and everyone that actively supports the movement.
