How often are we taught to live our lives from the heart? I often wondered why all of a sudden you see someone quit their career without warning to travel the world. I truly believe this occurs when a God given awakening has happened. Some may say it’s the universe but being a Christian I truly believe that it’s an ‘Epiphany’ in the subconscious mind. This could happen in a day or night dream, a vision, through circumstances or simply someone saying something which clicked with you.
I’m a lady of multiple talents, and many years ago while working in USA immigration in the UK a gentleman (who I’ll call Bob) invited me to speak on a radio station about immigrating to the United States. After the show finished he immediately said to me “Amanda have you ever considered working in media, you were made for it”. At the time my confidence and self esteem was very low as I’d recently been through a bitter and acrimonious divorce, but his words struck a chord in my heart, and never left me. Bob had spoken to my subconsciousness because I do enjoy presenting, TV media and writing. I hated working in law, it depressed me tremendously, but as a single parent with responsibilities I couldn’t just jump out of the boat of my daily job onto the media ship, I had to wait for God’s timing and pray.
God provided opportunities for me to do presentations at Bob’s events, write for his media company and create TV programmes for a Chrisitan TV network in the USA. Eventually I left the field of law, and worked in various sectors until arriving at the place I am now which is running my own charity ‘Female Dignity’ (www.femaledignity.co.uk ), writing, presenting and global preaching of the gospel. This didn’t happen overnight, it took time, preparation and being rejected to reach this place.
I want to encourage you today to be alert to your subconscious heart and mind. God may speak to you through dreams and visions, for me it came through Bob. Once you hear and see what you are meant to be doing, take steps towards it, you may have to do a course or volunteer in that sector, but don’t ignore what’s in your heart. The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “That as a man thinks in his heart so is he”. What’s your life saying to all around you is it screaming frustration and depression or peace and joy, the choice is yours. Yes, you are taking a risk but take it from me it is indeed worth it! I can now finally say the inside and outside of my life matches up, and I’m truly grateful and happy, and you can be too!
So until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
