CaribDirect is pleased to introduce a Caribbean stylist and designer that has made his name internationally, Richard Young. Over the next few weeks Richard will showcase a lot of the work his friend and colleague Sonia Noel for your benefit. Here’s what has been up to over the years:

Richard Young is well known throughout the Caribbean as a stylist, production designer and impresario. He is the founder/artistic director of his own event management/production design company for the past twenty five (25) years.

He has been working extensively throughout the English-speaking Caribbean producing fashion/beauty/arts related events from the Bahamas in the North to Guyana in the South with stints in Miami, New York, Toronto and Montreal.

In the early nineties, Richard was commissioned to direct the first regional fashion week; Colour Me Caribbean 1990 – 1992, wooing the BBC to cover this event for their programme, The Clothes Show.

In 1991, 1995 and 2008, the Carifesta organizing committee hired him as their Fashion Director. Between 1995 and 2001, the D’Orum Corporation of Chicago retained Richard as Production Designer and Platform Spokesperson for the innovative merchandising thrust of their hair product range throughout the region, quadrupling their sales.

Fashion Presentations have become his forte, having himself done over 500 showcases throughout the Caribbean. These prepared him for his creative directorship of Guyana Fashion Weekend, Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua  Fashion Weekend, Tobago Fashion Weekend and his work in progress; Style St Lucia.

It is evident that he is a sought-after creative director, having been invited to consult at Barbados Fashion Week, Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica and Dominicana Moda in Santo Domingo.

Regional make-up artist, stylist, art director, fashion columnist, pageant director and model/beauty queen coach are only some of his many skills in his vast portfolio. His unique flair for Event Management resulted in him serving as a facilitator for Event Management Programmes.
