At the Pan-African Conference held in London on April 9th, 2025, veteran journalist and African Caribbean Sustainability & Investment Summit (ACSIS) Chairman David F. Roberts sat down with Dr. Robert Dussey, Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration, for an exclusive interview on behalf of The Southern African Times.

In a deeply insightful conversation, Dr. Dussey reflected on the enduring legacy of the historic Pan-African Conference, acknowledging its critical role in shaping the modern African identity and unity. He emphasised the importance of collective memory, shared heritage, and the ongoing struggle for self-determination across the continent. “Pan-Africanism is not only a past ideal; it’s a present necessity,” he stated.

The discussion also turned to the growing concern of international terrorism in West Africa. Dr. Dussey candidly addressed Togo’s vulnerability in an increasingly unstable regional security environment, noting the spillover effects from neighbouring conflict zones. He called for deeper international cooperation, intelligence sharing, and African-led solutions to counter the threat.

The interview, hailed as one of the most important moments of the conference, highlighted Togo’s strategic position and commitment to regional peace and integration. David F. Roberts’ thoughtful engagement provided a powerful platform for African voices on the global stage.
