The governments of Antigua and Barbuda and China signed four bilateral agreements to strengthen economic and technical cooperation as a sign of good relations, local authorities stressed on Thursday.

The two nations also improve their ties in other areas such as tourism, education, culture, agriculture and health.

Beijing gave 30 million yuans (4,758,506 USD) to Saint John for the development of several projects and a similar amount to build a high school.

The educational center will be called Five Islands and should be completed in September 2013, Doristeen Etinoff, deputy director of Education of Antigua and Barbuda, said last month.

The new facility will benefit 750 students and will consist of several classrooms, a gymnasium, science and computer labs, and a music room.

Moreover, the Chinese government will allocate 6.4 million yuans (1,014,955 USD) for the maintenance of the Vivian Richards cricket stadium.

The most recent government exchange between the two countries was headed by Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer and Chinese Deputy Trade Minister Gao Huncheng.
