The Mash Secretariat is expecting some 30 floats this year in the Road March Parade. The National Communications Network visited a number of mash camps where costumes are being prepared for February 23, with the ministry of agriculture being the most recent to launch its band.

The Agriculture Ministry’s Mashramani band will be highlighting Guyana’s leadership role in the fight against climate change at this year’s road march, under the theme “Go Green and Grow, keeping innovation alive”.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy said his ministry is ready to take to the streets and celebrate the success of the country.

“We in the agriculture sector take our own place of pride in that when it comes to feeding out people we can stand up with pride and hold our heads up high, each one of us that will be in the ministry of agriculture band” Dr. Ramsammy said.

Meanwhile, a collaboration of Pulse Entertainment, E-Networks and Trevor Rose is taking a party band to the streets, with the aim of bringing a Trinidad carnival flavor to Guyana’s Mashramani.

“There is an all inclusive package where you can get the costumes and food and unlimited beverages all day for twenty five thousand dollars, the costume is fifteen thousand dollars and when you buy in groups we offer you a package for discount”

According to organizer Youth Coalition for Transformation Mash Camp Mayhew Dyer, two bands will be showcased, one called Greenival which depicts change and growth and another called envy, meaning energetic new vibrant youths.

“ It’s a bit more than the green carnival which we’ve been hearing people saying in the streets, its al about a mass movement of green and green represents change, growth, and that’s what’re pushing forward and come the 23rd, we expect to have 1000 people in this section”

Banks DIH Limited and Digicel have already launched their bands which are among some 30 bands registered to take to the road on Mashramani day.
