From the sexy forty-nine year old Grace Jones look-alike to the confident and charismatic thirty-something’s and not to mention the all too many pretty young things. All women of every shape size colour and creed all vying for this one man’s attention.
‘Just choose’ I told Derek on a particularly confrontational day, I loved him but had grown tired of his constant bragging. ‘Why should I’ Derek said raising his shoulders skywards ‘I’m keeping my options open’. ‘No what you’re doing is playing a very dangerous game there’s a thin line between keeping your options open and stringing women along and that’s what you’re doing’. I told him.
And although I was a little annoyed with his couldn’t care less attitude deep down I couldn’t help but feel a little envious of all the attention he was receiving. Especially as I knew he had no intention of making any of these women his girlfriend anytime soon – couldn’t they see that?
The problem with too much choice is that we often end up in the impossible situation of not being able to choose and this can lead us to not appreciating what we have! It reminds me of a tale I heard recently of a little boy who when asked what he had gotten for Christmas said he couldn’t remember because ‘there were just too many things’! Or of the time when shopping in a well-known department store I fell in love with a printed dress which came in 3 different colours, after agonising for ages and still unable to decide which colour I liked best… did I decide to leave it on the peg having not been able to make up my mind? No… I bought all three!
So maybe in many instances in life it’s time for me my friend and many others like us to practise saying these three little words… I PICK YOU !
