Home African Caribbean Frenchman showing humanity to black youth

With the atrocities of the Paris terror attacks fresh in people’s minds, for some this heartwarming scene is going some way towards restoring their faith in humanity.

The picture was shared on Imgur by user LyssaP yesterday and has gone viral , amassing more than 1.7 million views. It shows a smartly-dressed young man sat on an underground rail platform.

An older man is fastening his tie for him while a woman blocks the pair from the view of other commuters, presumably to save the younger man any embarrassment.New Picture

LyssaP explained: “The young guy sitting down was struggling with his tie. “The woman in the red coat noticed, and asked ‘Do you know how to tie it properly?’

“The young guy said “No ma’am.”

“She taps her husband and says ‘Come to this side [her right side; he was standing on her left side] and teach this young man how to tie his tie.’

“The older gentleman moved without hesitation [almost a reflex response] and gave him a step-by-step tutorial; then – afterward – the elder gentleman watched the young gentleman repeat the steps and show him that he had it.

“I was some distance away (but close enough to hear the exchange), and got closer to snap this photo of the tutorial in progress before hopping on the train.”

According to LyssaP, some viewers have condemned her for posting a picture of the moment, which the woman tried to conceal – but she’s defended her actions.

She said:”I just wanted others, to smile about something that had made my day. “All this bad in the world and I share something good.”
