Home African Caribbean First Anguilla Sculpture Symposium Launches

Caribbean news. From November 9th to 27th internationally renowned sculptors, all members of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, will pack their chisels and hammers and head to the First Anguilla Sculpture Symposium – the first event of its kind in the Caribbean. This select group of artists will create unique public sculptures for permanent installation on Anguilla. Free and open to the public, this event offers visitors the unique opportunity to learn first-hand about public art and to watch the artists in action as they transform raw materials into imaginative, original pieces inspired by the island’s culture, history, and natural beauty.

The Symposium will also have a significant educational impact on Anguilla. As part of this two-week event, the sculptors will deliver a series of artists’ talks. School groups from around the island will also participate in sculpture workshops.

The Symposium is the latest addition to Anguilla’s vibrant art scene, which includes a wide array of fine art galleries and a thriving crafts community.
