Magnum Season Finale

Staff Writer - Kerran Monroe

Saturday, April 28 saw the final episode of the fifth season of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall.  As usual the show opened with the fashion show, showing a collection from Shenna Carbey, the winner of the first season of Mission Catwalk.

There were also performances from past winners and past contestants from the show as well as performances from contestants from this season of the show.  The final episode of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall also saw a performance from the reigning queen of dancehall herself, Lady Saw; this performance I want to elaborate on.

I mean I love Lady Saw and everything but the latter part of her performance on the Magnum stage was atrocious.  When she just came out on stage and started doing her recent hits, I was enjoying the performance, as she performed the way only Lady Saw could.  However, as the performance continued, I do not know if she was her enemy in the crowd or what but she just began to sound horrible.  She screamed “a cuda wa do sum gyal” into the microphone and my ears began to hurt.  I do not know anything about music or singing but I do know that Muma Saw sounded awful on that stage and I was embarrassed for her.  If I could have plugged my ears I would have.  I am sure I am not the only one who found that performance somewhat disturbing.

Moving on to some other performances; of course Tanto Blacks almost kicked over the front row with his usual antics while Specialist performed his post Magnum hits, “Hustlers Anthem” and “Gyallis Anthem”.

The night saw, Taliban taking the crown to become the fifth season Magnum queen of Dancehall and Deep Jahi becoming the Magnum king for the fifth season.
