Trial Marriage in the Caribbean?!! Just legalize Polygamy!!

Mexico has decided to institute a law where a couple can be married for two years and after those two years, they have the opportunity to get out of the marriage if it is not working. That is without the hassle of a divorce. Thus, if this was to be instituted in the Caribbean will it be a positive thing?

I don’t think so.  I think this will be making the sanctity of marriage look ridiculous. The region would be better served if polygamy was to be legalized.  I am sure every male in the region is now shaking their head in agreement with me.

It is a poorly kept secret that a lot of men in the Caribbean have more than one girlfriend.  Thus the girl that spends the most time with the man is called the “wifey” and the others the “matey”. Therefore if polygamy was to be legalized then all his girlfriends will now become wife. In essence, what this will be doing would be eliminating the subordinate status of some women in a relationship where they share a man.

Now my next proposal will still have the men in the region shaking their heads, but in uncompromising disagreement with me.  If polygamy is to be legalized then this also means that the female can now have more than one husband.

Now most men are going to declare outright that is impossible for them to share a woman with a next man. In fact, it is only an idiot man or a weak man would subject himself to such an arrangement. But the reality is that more female are tertiary educated thus they would be in a better position to take care of more than one husband.

Polygamy in practice

Thus if the man was to look at it more carefully then he would realize that in fact he would be benefitting from such an arrangement. If he and another man got married to a lawyer then they would be increasing their social status in society.

However, realistically most men would not see it that way. But I am serious about the other aspect of polygamy where men are allowed to marry more than one wife. This is indeed a much better arrangement for the Caribbean than the trial marriage being instituted in Mexico. That is because polygamy is technically already a popular practice in the Caribbean it just needs to now be legalized. What do you think…?
