On the sixth stop on their tour of the West Indies, the royal romantics attended a state luncheon and Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards Programme at Spice Island Beach Resort, a serene sanctuary for soul mates which offers 64 elegantly-appointed suites, the transcendental treatments of the Janissa’s Spa, epicurean adventures at Oliver’s beachside gourmet restaurant and the Sea & Surf Terrace and blissful sunbathing by a swimming pool complete with swim-up whirlpool.

“The entire Spice family was proud to welcome The Earl and Countess of Wessex,” said Sir Royston, the resort’s Chairmand and Managing Director. “We are truly honoured to have hosted Their Royal Highnesses during their brief visit to Grenada in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.”

The regal retreat is accustomed to accommodating members of the British monarchy. In June 2011 Princess Anne (Prince Edward’s sister) enjoyed the view from the family-run member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) collection.
