Female Entrepreneur Business School flyer nov

The aim of the event is to make businesses relevant and fit for supply in contemporary

times both locally and on the international stage. The downturn in the global economy

has increasingly challenged the fitness and sustainability of most enterprises and

particularly female owned ones, hence businesses need to reposition for relevance by

continually checking their health through a medium that is as focused as this Summer

Business School! We intend to assist, educate and inspire these Female Entrepreneurs

to compete internationally and locally.

The event will provide a road map for these women to show them how they can breakthrough to

success. It is not just inspiration for a day but education for the whole of their business journey

post the event. It will not just cover what to do to break through but most importantly HOW to do

it! No woman will leave the same.

There will be 5 workshop sessions covering the key areas that Entrepreneurs need to master in

order to become successful. The sessions will be delivered by industry experts some of whom

have experienced and broken through the very challenges they speak about.

This 1 day session will be filled with educational talks and breakout sessions for women to work

on their businesses.

‘As Entrepreneurs we have a checklist of the WHAT’S that need to be done but we

just need to know HOW to get started with the list and HOW to keep going when

things get tough. This is the first event of its kind and is likely to make an impact

on the UK economy and the world’.

SOME FACTS ABOUT FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS

4 out 10 SME businesses are female-led…

According to the BIS (Department for Business Innovation & Skills) survey in 2010, 39 per cent of SME

(small medium enterprise) business owners included women-led businesses.

23 per cent of SME employers sold goods or services or license products outside of the UK,

with 74% per cent choosing to export to the EU, and 27 per cent North America. So 1 in 4

businesses are exporting from the UK.

In The Telegraph, Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers has mentioned that currently 10pc of

the store’s e-commerce sales are international, with Germany and France being particularly strong

territories. (2013)

Amanda Allerton, co founder of Dusky Moon Ltd with a Dream Tubes display also

mentioned in The Telegraph: “We have just reached 40 countries and we launched our

product in January 2009. We just can’t believe it.” (2010)

ABOUT THE FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR BUSINESS SCHOOL EVENT

The Female Entrepreneur business school event was organised to help 100 female entrepreneurs

overcome the challenges facing entrepreneurs going into business during the economic

downturn. Many businesses are struggling to survive yet there are so many opportunities

untapped. We as women have fought too long the wrong way.

ABOUT THE HOST

Brandstad Consulting is the organiser of this event. Brandstad Consulting runs seminars and

workshops for businesses and provides strategic business support to CEOs and Business owners

of SME businesses to help them grow . The reason the CEO has decided to put this on is based on

her experience. She felt there is a gap between the seminars and events currently out there which

are all very inspirational and motivational but lack a strong value proposition post event to

support the enterprises that patronise them. The other side of the story is that some of the

academic institutions courses are either too long or too abstract to meet the entrepreneurs’

immediate needs. This 1 day session aims to bridge that gap with educational talks and breakout

sessions for women to work on their businesses.

My personal experience of most events targeted at helping businesses grow in recent times is

worrisome! Most events are tending towards mere inspirational and/or motivational talk shows

as they lack value proposition to the enterprises that patronise them. Little wonder, there is

neither a structure for post-event support that could help sustain the businesses in this hard

time nor a feedback process through which the quality and impact of the events could be

measured! These identified gaps inspired our resolve to make a difference in business growth,

support and sustenance services.

We are also aware that the pains and challenges of the downturn in the global economy are not

disappearing yet rather they are still biting hard on businesses, employers and employees. Supply

opportunities and purchasing power are both diminishing as a result of closure of businesses,

inflation, dwindling budgets, redundancy, etc.

The Summer Business School has been put together to help 100 female entrepreneurs overcome these challenges by:

  • · making them fit to supply locally and overseas in contemporary times;
  • · ensuring they trade profitably with renewed confidence within six months of the event;

and

  • · providing a structure for post-event professional support for participating businesses in

order to continue to improve on the fitness, growth and sustenance of their enterprises.
