Being mindful of the expressions of deep passion and anxiety displayed by many who have been directly or indirectly affected by the death, He commented “We take this moment to call on all concerned for calm, to exercise restraint and allow an independent investigation to be conducted free from all pressures. As a Christian people we must all be reminded that this incident is a tragedy for the country, a tragedy for the family of Oscar Bartholomew and a tragedy for the young police officers who are accused and their immediate family.”
Dr. Mitchell is also appealing to the general public during this period of mourning to refrain from maligning and attacking the Royal Grenada Police Force as an organization. He said the RGPF regardless of the current circumstances is still the organization responsible for our security, defense and the protection of our democracy.
The Former Prime Minister again appeals to all concern especially the Prime Minister and Minister for National Security to ensure that an independent and transparent investigation is conducted.
