Team Grenada received a very warm welcome on Friday evening August 10th at the Grenada Olympic House, Arlington Conference Centre, in Camden, London.

Following the National Anthem and prayer by Mr Kester Worme, the High Commissioner for Grenada, HE Ruth Elizabeth Rouse, welcomed the Team and all present, expressing how very honoured the Grenadian Diaspora in the UK felt to be host to London 2012 and to the Grenada Team.
The High Commissioner thanked the Grenada Olympic Welcoming Committee which was launched in London in 2012 ,and volunteers together with members of Grenadian Community Groups for their dedicated efforts in hosting the Grenada Olympic House.
Hon Patrick Simmons, Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports addressed the gathering and expressed congratulations to the Team on their excellent performance, and in particular to Kirani James for achieving Grenada’s first Olympic Medal and Gold at that.
Appreciation was also extended by General Secretary of the Grenada Olympic Association Mrs Veda Bruno-Victor, and the Team was introduced by Mr Conrad Francis, Chef de Mission.
In attendance also: Mr Aaron Moses, VP, Grenada Athletics Association; Cpl Dr Johnson Beharry VC, Footballer Jason Roberts MBE, Baroness Howells of St David’s and Head of Arlington, Jason Pryce-Kennedy.
Tribute in poetry was presented by Akima Paul and the ceremony chaired by Feona Sandy, First Secretary, High Commission for Grenada.
The team was treated to a tasty Grenadian meal created by Ms Ann Husbands of Zenith Cuisine, before mingling with well-wishers and friends.
The High Commissioner wishes to extend sincere appreciation to all those who made the Grenada House possible for the week of August 4th – 11th, promoting “The Best of Grenada”.
