My guest this week is Sanchia Alasia, who is the Mayor for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Sanchia was born in Jamaica and grew up in Newham, East London. While at university studying Sociology and Politics, and then a Masters Politics, Policy and Government, Sanchia was an active member of her student unions. During this time she worked on many different issues and became an Equality and Diversity Specialist.

Sanchia has completed internships with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and Diane Abbott. She uses her experience to help local residents in Barking and Dagenham, resolving their issues with long lasting solutions. Having assumed the role of Mayor in May 2018, Sanchia tells Delia what she wants to achieve in her term and personally…
