Beth
Give us this day our daily bread; The definition of the word “Daily” is “happening or done every day”, we come to our Father in prayer daily. The Lord’s Prayer has been taught to many people as children as a bed time pray. The Lord’s Prayer can be said daily, any time of the day. What our Father wants is for us to spend time with him, it’s about meditating on His Words daily. His “Word” is reading the Bible on a daily basis, learning the scriptures, and shaping your life according to the scriptures. The Bible says James 1:22 “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves”.
And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us; We are asking God to forgive us of all our sins we have committed; if we ask God to forgive our sins we also must forgive sins of other people who have sinned against us.
And lead us not into temptation; Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone James 1:13
We as God’s children never have to give into temptation, for God will “make the way of escape” 1 Corn 10:13 but we must be conscious of our vulnerability. Jesus therefore emphasized the need for humble dependence on God.
Notice that temptation itself is not sin. It is an enticement to do wrong by a promise of pleasure or gain. Sin only occurs when we give into temptation.
Jesus did not sin, but he was tempted. “And He was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan” Mark 1:13 Jesus responded ‘It is written’. Knowing, understanding and applying the Scriptures will enable us to withstand temptation. Temptation can also be a test.
But deliver us from evil: Evil is anything that tempts us to do something which is against God’s will. It is anything that would sadden or displease God if we were to follow our own desires instead of His will.
For thine is the kingdom and the power: His power pulls us out of the dust and the needy from the garbage dump Psalm 113:7; His power gives the childless woman a family making her a happy mother Psalm 113:9; His power that healed us when the doctors said there was no hope, His power that picked us up when we felt abandon. As a Christian don’t believe in the lie that you can do it all by yourself. It’s God’s power that sees us through. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
and the glory, forever; The glory of God – that He gives Himself in fullness and never partially. And those who seek the glory of God must learn that God truly desires to give Himself to us, which means He wants us to enjoy fullness. Psalm 113:4 For the Lord is high above the nations; His glory is higher than the heavens. Jesus prayed to the Father “Now Father, bring me into the “glory” we shared before the world began”. Jesus was saying that he could not exist without the Father intimacy; He hungered for the oneness and closeness of the Father. That is where we need to be.
Amen: “Amen” is a Hebrew word that stems from the word aman, which means “to be faithful, support, or confirm. “Amen” is an affirmation, affirming that we believe that what God said is perfect, absolutely true, and faithful, and affirming the certainty that our prayers and petitions, when asked in accordance to God’s will, will be done.
Paulette looked up at Beth with tears in her eyes and said “I have a lot of work to do” Thank you for opening my eyes. Paulette said “the Glory goes to God, no matter where you are in life, here in a Party, when you’re ready you will hear and understand his calling”. God is everywhere just waiting for you. Beth got up and hugged Paulette and they both had tears in their eyes. “What a Party”, Frank said who was listening to every word. Amen.
