Last time we counted down the number 10 – 6 songs of the summer.  Now here are the top five songs that we voted on for the summer.  Here goes:

5.  Delilah by Mavado – Now this song had all the Delilah dem and the Jezebel dem  and the poor victims of the Delilah and Jezebel dem singing at the top of their lungs, “She she man a wicked but woman a Delilah….ooo.”  Yes me dear.  And even if you are not a Delilah or Jezebel you just can’t help but sing along to this one.  It has a really nice melody and it is really catchy and has a nice rhythm that you can rock to.

4. One by One by Laza Morgan ft. Mavado – I, like many others did not know who Laza Morgan was until this song.  Matter of fact I knew the song before I knew him.  But nuff respect to him still.  This one made every girl feel special this summer.  And even after summer we are still feeling like the only girl in the world when we hear this song.  I am pretty sure that any girl that this song was played to was weak in her knees.  Trus me if yo deh a one party by yo self, wen dah song ya come on yo wish yo did have somebody there with you.

3.  Destiny/Settle Down by Mavado – This was released really late in the summer but one thing for sure, after its release, any party yo go an it no play memba she da selector deh a get baaay cussin. Check out the official video here.

Rising Star Mavado

2.  Summer Time by Vybz Kartel – This was probably one of the first songs released in the summer.  It was probably released before summer but one thing for sure, it was released specifically for summer and it was mega.  During the earlier part of summer this was probably the only song being played in every car that you hear driving past you and not to mention the parties.  This one had everyone in a frenzy and “digging up” to it.

1.  Ravin by Popcaan – Summer Time was hot but Ravin, by Popcaan, released on the same riddim as Summer Time pushed Summer Time to the side line.  The song which promotes living life to the fullest, making the most of life, enjoying, every minute of it and just living in the moment was arguably the most popular this summer.  The song is about being carefree and partying before you “go inna di gravin” since we do not know when we “a go inna d gravin”.  This song had everyone on their feet this summer.  Even if you are a “party pooper” there was no way you could “poop” on this song.  Big up yo self Papi yo ting shot!!! Check it out here

Two other songs that made an impact this summer are “Nobody Canna Cross It” – Mixing and riddim done by Dj Powa and vocals (if you may call it that) by Clifton aka Clifftwang.  Also, “Hustle” by Magnum King and Queen Contestant Specialist did very well also.
