Just a few weeks after pulling off one of the most memorable beauty pageants of 2012, Kaieteur Entertainments does it again by staging a unique Christmas party for beauty queens from across the African-Caribbean community.
Never done before this special Christmas Party was held at the spacious Scandals Night Club in West Norwood on Friday 14th December 2012. Organiser Tracey Benjamin said, ‘This idea was an experiment and I wasn’t sure what the response was going to be like especially as I got a few people say they couldn’t make it…I’m very pleased!’
Before you knew it the venue was almost at capacity and jamming to the Dj’s cool Soul, Lover’s Rock, Rare Groove, Reggae, Calypso and Soca. The tempo was splendidly complemented by a delicious Caribbean buffet whose sweet aroma lit up the place thereby setting the tone for a fabulous fashion show.
Queen Farah Sattaur stood out as she moved around gracefully as she greeted and mingled with her former fellow contestants. It was obvious a life long bond had formed between them as they laughed and joked freely among themselves.
The arrival of Miss Jamaica UK 2012, Miss Gemma Feare caused all heads to turn in her direction as she looked absolutely stunning and immediately caught the attention of photographers in the house. It wasn’t long before she was surrounded by all the former Miss Guyana UK contestants and dissappeared into a frenzy of chatter.
The event was graced with the presence of veteran pageant organiser and director of the Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK Beauty Pageant Ms Angela Cox, accompanied by Dr Patrick Williams (nephew and God Son of the first and longest serving Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago), Karen Salandy, BEFFTA Award winning make up artist and Soca DJ Rebel. Miss Trinidad & Tobago Miss Janelle Fraser was also in attendance.
No pageant or fashion show would be complete without the midas touch of the hardest working man in fashion, Reuben Joseph choreographer. Reuben once again demonstrated his unique form of fashion presentation with an elegant and stylish fashion show involving both the former female pageant contestants and the male escorts.
Judging from the pictures you’ll agree he did a splendid job. His contribution was so incredible that he won an award on the night. Other award recipients other than the former contestants included Gillian Bernard and Lorraine Williams.
It is fair to say the ‘experiment’ as Tracey calls it was a hit with all who attended and has created a platform for similar events to be done on an annual basis. CaribDirect congratulates the effort and was pleased to be associated with both the Miss Guyana UK Pageant and Christmas Party.
