Roseau, Dominica (TDN) — In Dominica news, Police in Dominica are reporting the arrest of four men following a raid in the Dos Dane area that resulted in the seizure of more than 30 kilos of cocaine at an estimated street value of EC $ 600 000.

Among those arrested are two government employees Gareneh Jolly of the Inland Revenue Department and Orlando Moise of the Ministry of Finance. The men have not been formally charged, but they remain in Police custody.

In December 2012, members of the Dominica Coast Guard intercepted an open keel boat just a few miles off the island’s coast and arrested three Dominicans and a Columbian with a reported 70 kilos of cocaine valued at well over EC $2 million.

A few months earlier in August, Police made two major cocaine busts within the space of four days seizing 40 kilos of cocaine and arresting Harrison Warrington, Terrance Christopher and Brian Etienne for possession of the illegal substance.

In the other instance, the Dominica coast guard interdicted a small boat just outside of Roseau with more than 100 kilos of cocaine and arrested Cleve Gabriel and Jones St Jean in the process.

In July 2012, five men were held and charged for importing and attempting to distribute 30 kilos of cocaine and in June 2011 police captured four men wounding one in the process with 45 kilos of cocaine.

In addition to the local arrests, since last year, police in England, Montserrat, St Lucia, Guadeloupe and Antigua have arrested and charged several Dominican nationals for the importation of cocaine into their jurisdictions.
