This quote caught my eye. It’s from Garvey Lives! A play by Barry Beckham about Jamaican activist Marcus Garvey.

Garvey Lives! was Beckham’s first dramatic script—and the first ever produced about the legendary Pan-African activist Marcus Garvey, and had its premiere production at Brown University, USA in 1972.

The quote: “I been sleeping all my life. And now that Mr. Garvey done woke me up, I’m got stay woke.”
