The year 2019 also marks the 40th anniversary of the award of the Nobel Prize to Sir Arthur Lewis in 1979, the same year that Saint Lucia gained its independence. It is with this milestone in mind that the Committee have chosen as this year’s theme “Celebrating Excellence: Forty Years On”.
In a press invitation, the Committee states: While both Laureates have passed on, there should be no dimming or weakening of the pride we should all feel in the achievements and legacy of our accomplished sons. We therefore encourage all to join us in celebrating their lives and their contribution, thus rallying around the theme for the nation’s celebration of the 40th anniversary of our Independence “All In : Our Journey, Our Future”.
The launch begins at 10:00 a.m. promptly and will be attended by Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, Former Governor General of Saint Lucia and Chair of the Nobel Laureate Festival Committee.
The Nobel Laureate Festival Committee would appreciate your usual co-operation and support. At the launch, each Committee member will outline briefly their events and questions from the media will be taken.
The NLFC relies on your reports and coverage, especially on this special 40th Anniversary year celebrating the award of the Nobel Prize for Economics to Sir William Arthur Lewis. We depend on you to encourage the public to attend events.
We request that each media house “like” the Facebook page: Nobel Laureate Festival: Saint Lucia and share all your news, views and comments on the page, which will be held for approval before publishing.
