THE family of a British woman killed tumbling 100ft from a Caribbean clifftop on Christmas Day say her death was a “terrible accident”.

Sarah Thomas, 46, who lived on St Lucia where she married five months ago, is said to have stumbled over while picking herbs in her garden after an all-night party.

Her unemployed husband Kevin, 36, was seen near the scene with his head in his hands.

Distraught mum Christine Pickering, of Ashton-on-Ribble, Lancs, said: “There has been a full police investigation and we believe that Sarah’s death is the result of a terrible accident.” The couple had been out celebrating Christmas until the early hours.

Ursula Guidaire, who owns the Anchor bar, said: “Sarah was still here dancing with Kevin at 6am. They looked like they were having a good time.”

A neighbour in Piaye village said: “They returned home and Sarah began to cook. She went outside to get a leaf from a herb and fell.

“From the plant to the cliff edge is about 10 yards.”

Tax lawyer Sarah, from Preston, quit her City job and moved to St Lucia in 2010 after meeting Kevin in New York.

Police said: “We don’t suspect foul play at the moment. We have not arrested anyone and there are no suspects. That might change.”
