Coming out of CaribDirect’s second successful business seminar on Thursday 30th May at the Jamaica High Commission,
This facility was seen as a vital component in the perpetuation of Caribbean culture in the United Kingdom while providing an invaluable pool of skills and talent for the development, growth and eventual sustainability of the Caribbean region.
Proposed by Tropical Connections’, Maureen Smith of Barbadian (Bajan) extraction to a full ‘house’ that included a High Commissioner, two Deputy High Commissioners several consular representatives, media and the general public, the proposition was widely supported and adopted by panellist Nathaniel Peat, Chairman of Jamaicans Inspired UK (JAMINUK).
The event which focussed on discussions around trade and investment in the Caribbean and how the Caribbean Diaspora in the UK could participate in improving the current economic climate in the Caribbean; while looking at security implications and the established institutions that facilitate trade and investment, was sponsored by MoneyGram.
No doubt the several points raised by the panellists is bound to make Caribbean news, not least the futuristic role young Caribbean Britons can play in the advancement of the Caribbean region.
A full report with outcomes will be published here in a few days.
