n a recent ribbon cutting ceremony National Bank and partners, contractors Arnold Paul and Roland Stanley, handed over newly constructed access ramps to Mr. Gaviston Elliott of Dieppe Bay, Sylvannie Richards of Lamberts Project and Enid Matthew of Main Street, Old Road. The contractors were ably assisted by National Bank staff in the construction of the ramps. The three beneficiaries who are wheelchair dependent, expressed gratitude to the Bank and the contractors for restoring a fraction of the independence that they had lost as a result of their disabilities.
Mr. Donald Thompson Assistant Managing Director and Chair of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations Committee stated that this initiative was one of several undertaken to improve the quality of life in the communities that National Bank serves.
Other initiatives included a mentoring programme, the distribution of over 1,000 articles of clothing in the Parsons, Saddlers and Dieppe Bay areas, an extensive beach cleanup at Cockle Shell Bay, and tree planting exercises at the FT Williams Highway in St. Kitts and the Pinneys Bypass Road in Nevis.
The Ministry of Social and Community Development was represented by Director Azilla Clarke. Ms. Clarke stated that the initiative is indicative of the role that the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited has played in the life not only of individuals but also the nation as a whole.
