The organizers of Anguilla’s Race against Aids would like to inform the general public that the half marathon has been cancelled.
The Optimist Club would like to encourage everyone to register for the remaining categories. These are the 1k for ages 10 and under and 5k and 10k for all other participants. The race begins and ends at the grounds of the Department of Agriculture on Saturday December 03, 2011 at 6:30am. The race’s purpose is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Anguilla and the region.
Registration forms for the race are available at All Schools, Tackle Box, National AIDS Program Office and the Department of Youth and Culture. The registration fee is .00 US for children under 18 and for adults 10US, 20 US for the 5k, and10k respectively. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Final registration will be on the grounds of the Agriculture department from 5am to 6am on December 03, 2011.

HIV/AIDS – words not generally used in our general everyday conversations but words which can change a person’s life forever. More and more families are being touched by HIV/AIDS but this disease is still not widely discussed and there is still a need for more tolerance and acceptance for persons affected. For the last 9 years to commemorate World Aids Day and to increase awareness for this disease, the Optimist Club of Anguilla has organised Anguilla’s Race against Aids.
The Optimist Club is inviting the general public to support and participate in its Annual Race against AIDS. The purpose of the race is to educate and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in Anguilla and the region. The race begins and ends at the grounds of the Department of Agriculture on Saturday December 03, 2011 at 6:30am. This years’ race seeks to include as many persons as possible with various distances and categories for a wide range of ages and abilities, beginning with the 1K for ages 10 and under, 5k and 10K in which most persons participate and the half-marathon for serious distance competitors. Persons who would like to walk are also encouraged to participate.
Registration forms for the race are available at all Schools, Tackle Box, National AIDS Program Office and the Department of Youth and Culture or by emailing [email protected]. The registration fee is .00 US for children under 18 for all distances excluding the half marathon. For adults the registration fee is 10US, 20 US and 30US for participation in the 5k, 10k and half marathon respectively. The deadline date to register for the half marathon is November 26th, 2011. All participants who register by November 26th can opt to have a dollar of their registration fee donated to a school/club of your choice. Final registration will be at the reception on the grounds of the Governor’s house on December 01 at 6:00pm and the morning of the race between 5am and 6am. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age category.
