RBG,
Ricardo Mahadeo, Trinidad and Tobago country manager for RBG, was presented with the award by Rabindra Jaggernauth, Director of the Board for the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, at a glittering ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Trinidad.
REACH has had a major impact on the safety performance and HSEQ engagement throughout RBG’s T&T operations. Launched in 2009, the initiative played a major role in helping the T&T team record more than 3,000,000 manhours without a lost time incident.
RBG’s employee community is at the heart of REACH and has been the driver behind its success. In-country engagement with the initiative and its values has led to an increase in the reporting of potential and actual incidents, a greater understanding of HSE roles and responsibilities and empowering employees to stop a job when they feel it is not safe.
Mr Mahadeo said: “This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our T&T team. REACH has helped us target some of the most prominent and underlying root causes that can lead to incidents and created a positive safety culture that is now visible in everything we do. REACH has helped us to achieve excellent levels of safety by engraining good safety practice as a normal part of our daily working lives.”
Mike Mann, senior vice president of global HSEQ for Stork Technical Services, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our colleagues in Trinidad and well deserved as they have worked hard to raise safety standards throughout their operations. Although REACH provides the tools to improve safety, it is the drive and determination of our employees that makes it a continued success.”
